D'Arenberg

Meet The Osborns, four generations of whom have owned and run d’Arenberg since the land was bought by Joseph Osborn in 1912.  When Joseph’s son Frank fell ill in 1943, 16 year old Francis (the legendary d’Arry) came back from school to help out and began the process of turning d’Arenberg into the award-winning winery it is today.

Throughout the sixties and seventies accolades were heaped on d’Arenberg’s wines and when d’Arry’s son Chester d’Arenberg Osborn took over the reins as chief winemaker in 1984, the winery’s reputation was established along with the distinctive red stripe that adorns its labels.

Although Chester modernised the winery, the old traditions were still strictly adhered to and, to this day, basket pressing and traditional crushers and fermenters maintain the handcrafted ethos.

D’Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz, d’Arenberg Coppermine Road Cabernet and d’Arenberg Ironstone Pressings Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre are are now the three flagship big, gutsy reds, but there is incredible quality and value for money throughout the range. Try the d’Arenberg Stump Jumps for a superb introduction to their wines, before savouring the likes of d’Arenberg Hermit Crab Marsanne Viognier or d’Arenberg Laughing Magpie Shiraz Viognier. Every one a winner.
