Few people could be said to have transformed a wine-producing region in the way that Dirk Niepoort has transformed the Douro. Although the house of Niepoort had been making port since 1842, it was only when Dirk came on board in 1987 that the company, and the future of wine-making in the region changed forever. Niepoort continues to make port of the highest quality and we are delighted to carry their whole range, from the lighter styles of Niepoort Ruby and Niepoort Junior through to the heavyweights of Niepoort Secundum and Niepoort Vintage.
Where Dirk Niepoort has been most influential, however, is in elevating the status of Portugal’s table wine, producing world-class wines from the traditional port grape varieties. The Niepoort range contains whites, Niepoort Redoma Branco and Redoma Reserva, as well as the astounding Niepoort Redoma Tinto and Niepoort Charmes reds. Dirk Niepoort is also chief winemaker at Lavradores de Feitoria, the finest expression of which can be found in the sensational Lavradores de Feitoria Meruge.
